Getting your U.S. nonprofit added

Tried searching your U.S. nonprofit's tax ID/EIN in Bright Funds with no luck?

The Bright Funds database is pre-populated with confirmed 501(c)(3) public charities via GuideStar/Candid, which syncs with the IRS database.

If you are in contact with the nonprofit, they may need to do the following to appear in Bright Funds.

  1. If they are not yet registered with GuideStar, the nonprofit can visit GuideStar's help page here to see how to get added in their database, and in turn, on Bright Funds*
  2. If they are registered with GuideStar, they may need to turn on third-party database sharing to appear in donation databases, such as Bright Funds

*If they are a newly formed 501(c)(3) and registered with GuideStar, there may be a delay in the nonprofit appearing, as it can take a few months before a new nonprofit is made available in Bright Funds.

Please note that most U.S. nonprofits must meet the requirements below to receive donations on Bright Funds, no matter their location in the U.S.:

GuideStar updates happen in the middle of each month with the IRS database, so do feel free to follow up as needed to see if your nonprofit is appearing.
